APO Network Operations

APO's network connection is a 40 Mbit/sec microwave link to Tularosa, NM to the commercial internet.  The commercial network is locally managed by Tularosa Communications, Inc., TCI.  TCI uses L3 Technologies for the network connection.  The network connection is gigabit.

APO Network Connectivity Diagnostics

• Available bandwidth between APO and NMSU.
• Round Trip Time to University Cities using smokeping. The graphs have a lot of information, and a reference to read the graphs is helpful.
• My IP address
• Packet trace from APO to a user specified IP address.

Traceroute Servers

• Traceroute Online - nice traceroute, mtr, dig, whois and other DNS tools.
  
• Princeton traceroute server
• UC Berkeley traceroute server
• UW traceroute server

Tools

• ARIN Database Lookup to find ISPs and AS (autonomous system) numbers.
• DIG network host lookup
• QWest Looking Glass select BGP to see how APO is being routed, either through NMSU or TCI. You can tell by looking at the AS.  Looking Glass servers are used to monitor real-time routing.
